The forest around Wernigerode's Schierke district is changing rapidly. The striking cliffs around the small village at the foot of the Brocken were previously hidden in the dense forest and are now suddenly visible from afar. A completely new landscape is emerging.

In an extraordinary event, visitors can now experience this changed landscape anew on the second weekend of Advent at the 4th Schierker Klippenglühen. At dusk on Friday and Saturday, the Mauseklippe cliff on the edge of the village and the toboggan run on the Barenberg are illuminated in red light.
The illuminations can be seen from many places in the village. As a small highlight, the cliff glow will be accompanied by a culinary winter mile for the first time this year, where guests can enjoy the pre-Christmas period with bratwurst, waffles and mulled wine, among other things (Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 pm).
