Schierke, located below the Brocken in the Harz Mountains, is easy to reach by bus, the Harz narrow-gauge railway and by car. From Wernigerode it is about 18 kilometres to Schierke, from Braunlage it is about 10 kilometres by car.

The town is well connected by train via Wernigerode to the main lines from Hanover, Braunschweig via Goslar, from Magdeburg, Leipzig / Halle (Saale) via Halberstadt to the transport network.

The HATIX ticket makes it possible for you to leave your car at home or at your holiday accommodation. With the ticket, you can travel free of charge on public buses throughout the Harz Mountains. Line 264 takes you comfortably from Wernigerode to Schierke.

With the Brocken railway

Harz narrow-gauge railway as public transport

Schierke is located on the route of the Brocken railway. Coming from Wernigerode or Nordhausen, the railway runs via Drei Annen Hohne to Schierke and then on to the Brocken.

The railway runs according to a timetable throughout the year. Travelling via Wernigerode is recommended. The railway station in Schierke is located slightly above the village. The town centre can be reached on foot in approx. 20 minutes.

About Wernigerode
Schierke can be reached via the L100 country road from Wernigerode. Via the village of Drei Annen Hohne it is about 18 kilometres up the mountain to Schierke.

Via Braunlage
The B27 federal road leads from Braunlage to Elend. From there it goes to Schierke. The route is approx. 10 kilometres long.
